Mount Romance Picks Up Two Coveted Tourism Awards

Saturday November 26th was a glittering affair at Burswood Entertainment Complex for the 2011 WA Tourism Awards, attended by more than 750 representatives and guests of the tourism industry from all over the state.

The Awards, organised by the Tourism Council of WA, are now in their 39th year and this year were sponsored by Perth Airport. They are aimed showcasing and recognising the best of what WA Tourism has to offer.

For Mount Romance, the highlights of the evening were the announcements of two Silver Awards in two separate categories.

The Sandalwood Factory Kununurra was awarded a Silver Medal under the Specialised Tourism Services Category.

The Sandalwood Gallery Broome won a Silver Medal in the Category of New Tourism Development.

Mount Romance General Manager Peter Wilson said “We were so excited and delighted to win these prestigious awards. It is such a great reward for all the hard work our team at Mount Romance have done and for the excellent service and dedication our staff at Kununurra and Broome have provided.”

“It is especially rewarding as these are our newest retail and tourism ventures and we have put a lot of careful planning and passion into them,” he said. “We wanted to make our newest stores every bit as interesting, inviting and warm as our well known and popular Sandalwood Factory at Mount Romance in Albany, for tourists as well as locals. We are very proud to be recognised, and are now going to work even harder to excel for next year’s awards.”
